These photographs are of the landscape and sea around my father’s cairn. I have known this place throughout my life, but returning to it now carries a deeper resonance. It holds his absence, while continuing to change and exist beyond my personal loss.
I’m drawn to the meeting of land and sea, and to the traces of people and moments that now live only in my memory.
Being here gives me space, peace and respite from modern life. It allows me to reflect on the past and what lies ahead. The land holds memory, presence, absence and trace.
